Afterimages (1981) by Canadian composer Alexina Louie was used for a visualization of environmental devastation and the horrors of animal abuse. Footage of clear cut logging, oil spills, animal experimentation, and trapping were some of the afterimages following pristine shots of the environments and animals.

The project has been performed on Earth Day and was part of a one-hour documentary aired on PBS Indiana.

PALENAI supports organisations fighting for animal welfare. We believe that compassion and justice must extend equally to people and animals.

Great minds on animals

— Pythagas
The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the ways its animals are treated.
— Mahatma Ghandi
I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of the whole human being.
— Abraham Lincoln
Let me say it openly: we are surrounded by an enterprise of degradation and cruelty — an enterprise without end, self-regenerating, bringing rabbits, rats, poultry, livestock ceaselessly into the world for the purpose of killing them.
— J. M. Coetzee, Nobel-prize winning author "The Lives of Animals"
The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they look on the murder of men.
— Leonardo da Vinci
Love the animals. God has given them the basis of thought and joy untroubled. Don’t harass them. Don’t deprive them of their happiness. Don’t work against God’s intent.
— Fyodor Dostoevsky
